Winemaker’s Vineyard Notes: From a collection of vineyards throughout the Sonoma Coast appellation, including the inaugural vintage fruit from Annapolis and the normal vineyards from Sebastopol and Petaluma Gap. The vintage set up pretty well from bud break right on through to harvest. Harvested August 30, September 4-5 and September 7, 2014.
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: Stainless steel fermented, 100% French oak-aged in 20% new oak barrels. Bottled unfined, unfiltered. Ruby in color, it offers a big, complex nose of Bing cherry, sassafras tea, ripe cranberry, fig jam, watermelon, soy, and Asian spices. Secondary notes of mulberry pie, lavender, rose petal, and a hint of tar follow. Medium bodied flavors of Bing cherry, strawberry rhubarb pie, and orange pekoe tea are coupled with savory hints of Loganberry followed by supple tannins and long finish of Baker’s chocolate and plum.
