2013 Jon Boat Chardonnay
Vineyard Notes: From a collection of vineyards within the Carneros region, the most notable being the Hudson Ranch. The vintage was an early one by most accounts; perfect start to spring with a very warm summer and above average yields. Harvested September 12th and 16th.
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: Stainless steel fermented and aged sur lees. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Golden straw in color. Very complex nose of lemon Starburst, lychee, orange cream soda, cut grass, thyme, and a minerality that reminds me of sea spray. Expansive, lush flavors of key lime pie, kiwi, lemon thyme, papaya, and licorice. Long, fat finish of quince and key limes.
2013 Jon Boat Pinot Noir
Winemaker’s Vineyard Notes: From a collection of vineyards throughout the Sonoma Coast with the backbone being the Terra de Promissio Vineyard. In terms of the way I like to see Pinot grown, this year was a smooth one with an early, uneventful spring, warm summer and normal to above average yields. Harvested 9/13, 9/14 & 9/17.
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: Stainless steel fermented, 100% French oak-aged in 20% new oak barrels. Bottled unfined, unfiltered. Ruby in color. Big nose full of bing cherry cola, rose petals, forest floor, mint tea, and juniper. Secondary aromas of vanilla, saddle leather, nutmeg and hints of tobacco. Medium to full bodies flavors of ripe plum, Bing cherry, and blackberry pie. Long finish of ripe cranberry, anise, and baker’s chocolate.
