In 2011 we experienced an unusually long, and cool growing season. During ‘normal’ vintages we typically get a cool summer days with fog burning off mid-day followed by a heat spell around Labor Day Often another heat wave will occur in October. However, in 2011 there was no heat event, just cool foggy summer days followed by cooler fall weather.
The resulting wines from 2011 are unusually restrained and elegant with bright acidity and great structure. These qualities make wines with great potential for long-term cellaring.
However, at the beginning of their life these wines will take more time to evolve and exhibit their full spectrum of aromatics and flavors. Be patient! These wines will be worth the wait and evolve beautifully.
This Tempranillo exhibits aromas of tea, currents and cinnamon. On the palate the wine is silky with flavors of tart cherry, dried currents, cocoa and spice. The finish is long with hints of smoky oak. cocoa and hard spice.
