Nuits-St-Georges is the principal town on the Côte de Nuits in the northern half of the Côte d’Or. It is located roughly halfway between Beaune and Dijon and dates back to Roman times. Although Nuits-St-Georges is not the largest commune in the Côte d’Or it is the longest, extending slightly over 5 miles, it joins Vosne-Romanée in the north to Prémeaux in the south. The Nuits-St-Georges Premier Cru vineyards line the mid-slope of the Cote d’Or escarpment. The 15 acre, Premier Cru vineyard, Aux Chaignots, is located slightly north of the Nuits-St-Georges township and situated at an easterly exposure. The chalky soils here are comprised of gravel and minimal traces of clay which provide sufficient water drainage and ensure healthy vines that are capable of producing rich and intense flavors.
This Pinot Noir displays high-quality, pure fruit with a pronounced and lovely minerality. On the palate, the wine is rich and mouthfilling. The vintage and wine are transparent representations of the terroir and appellation.
