Located on the eastern slope of the Montagne de Corton hill in the Côte de Beaune, Corton Le Rognet Grand Cru is a classic, rich Burgundy wine that will benefit from years of cellar age and develop beautifully over time.
Corton is comprised primarily of limestone with vines occupying nearly every slope of the hill. The Grand Cru classified grapes are situated due east to due west. The eastern side of the hill is a little warmer with more ample sunshine and, thus, better suited to Pinot Noir.
There is very lively and pure fruit here in the 2011 Corton Grand Cru. A lean yet layered wine, it is complex with just a hint of minerality. Well-balanced with a long, clean finish.
