Vosne-Romanée, revered for its illustrious Grand Cru sites, is located less than three miles north of the bustling town of Nuits Saint-Georges in the heart of Côte de Nuits. The vineyards form a spectacular backdrop to this unpretentious, little village. The village has been a known source of quality wines for over a thousand years, and still today nearly every inhabitant is involved in the production of wine. The old vine parcels, 46 to 52 years old, reside on thin, but well-drained, clay-limestone soils, topped with pebbles and limestone scree.
This village wine over-delivers on its aromatics and finesse. It has a classic Vosne nose of cherry cola, pomegranate seed and is very perfumy, reminiscent of sandalwood. It is soft and feminine in texture yet remains sturdy on the palate with red fruits, licorice and spices. A great vintage of pure, pure, pure Pinot Noir, and the best village wine of the lot!
