What does Napa Cabernet Sauvignon taste like? To a lot of people, the classic wines produced in the 60s, 70s & 80s from ripe fruit, picked and fermented traditionally remain the benchmark wines of this Fabled Valley. Today the top wines are picked very ripe; these larger than life showstopper Cabernets have turned out to be too extreme for many wine lovers. This Cabernet may taste under-ripe to lovers of that style, but we find it to be a breath of fresh air, with intense cassis laden fruit, firm tannins and a freshness that I believe is missing in today’s top examples of this grape.
Dense dark and rich cassis laden fruit with bright spicy Red Currants fill out the aromas while the vibrant freshness of pure Cabernet Sauvignon scents fill the air. Blue fruited on the palate with a brightness and tension that buffers the intensity of the fruit from this low yielding site. A delicious and ready to drink Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
