2011 Wind Gap James Berry Vineyard Chardonnay Image

2011 Wind Gap James Berry Vineyard Chardonnay

A dynamic wine that speaks equally of vintage and site; Refreshingly zesty and fresh from the limestone rich soil and high in acid from the cool growing season but clearly Chardonnay as it is loaded with depth of flavor from the late season heat that makes 2011 unique. Planted in the 1960s this small parcel is the only remaining Chardonnay vines from the original plantings on this site.

Tasting Notes
Kaffir Lime, wet stones and ocean air fill out the aromas of this vibrant 2011. The initial attach is linear and laser beam precise but quickly fills out into a rather broad shouldered Chardonnay on the mid-palate with riper than you’d expect flavors of fig and melon. The finish is all about minerality and freshness, but the richness of the fruit lingers and makes for a very Chablisian styled California Chardonnay.
